The Alliance’s approach…

The Alliance uses a broad definition of ‘health’ and represents the interests of people in rural areas in a wide range of projects which provide the opportunity to improve health outcomes. As well as working within the health sector more narrowly defined, the Alliance also works on policies and programs relating to the social and economic determinants of health, including education, employment, culture, rural and regional development, and the availability of fresh food at an affordable price.

The Alliance’s broad representative base places it in a unique position to collect and disseminate information, determine key issues that affect health and wellbeing in rural and remote areas, and provide a breadth of vision on rural health matters to governments, educational and research institutions, the media and other professional bodies.
