In a project funded through a General Practice Education and Training grant and supported through the Menzies School of Health Research, Dr Andy Hume has created the NT gardens website to document and promote community and school gardens in the Northern Territory. The website is a way to give gardeners their own web pages, where they can promote what they are doing and help them to get in touch with one another.  It is free and quick for gardeners to start their own garden page on the website. To see what’s happening in top end NT communities – or to add your garden – go to http://ntgardens.org

RIG Network is pleased to be affiliated with the NT Gardens website and congratulates Andy, and everyone who has contributed to the sites development. You can read more about NT Gardens in the forthcoming RIG News (October 2012) and flick back to RIG News #12 (April 2011) for a story about Andy and his research objectives as the project got underway. There’s been some good coverage about NT Gardens – including an interview by ABC Radio with Andy that you can access at:  http://www.abc.net.au/rural/content/2012/s3617011.htm
