RIG @ Tropical Garden Spectacular – Darwin, June 2-3

RIG Network is hosting activities to help welcome, celebrate and involve remote community gardeners in this years Tropical Garden Spectacular – Sustainable Living Festival  in Darwin.

If you’re in the NT on the weekend of June 2-3 and into gardening, good food, good health and good fun please come along … The Tropical Garden Spectacular – Sustainable Living Festival is held at the George Brown Botanic Gardens in Darwin.

RIG Network’s program of activities include:-

  • RIG Meeting Place and Information booth – all day, both days.
    Located in the Larrakia precinct at the event.

    RIG Talking Circles
    Saturday: 1:00pm “Gardening where we live, gardening tips and how you can use local resources in the community to involve the community”
    Sunday: 11:30am or bit after “Talking bush tucker, bush tucker plants, flavours and products – bush foods you can grow at home and that grow in your greater garden”.  This talking circle will follow half an hour or so after Talking Remote Indigenous Gardens panel discussion on main stage at 10:30.

    Mainstage – RIG panel discussion
    Sunday: 10:30   Talking Remote Indigenous Gardens panel discussion – Banduk Marika, Gareth Wise, Don Duggan, Ganygulpa Dhurrkay, Jimmy Burtur, Alice Beilby, Anthea Fawcett, Leonie Norrington.

    Green Living Tent
    Sunday: 1pm - Anne Stephens talks Gardens and Wellbeing. Anne is a Cairns based RIG Network member, and was a co-convenor of the Australasian Permaculture convergence 2010.
    Let us know if there are special gardeners in your community you think should be included in the above discussions – we may be able to help them come along! If you have materials you would like to share via the RIG Information booth – we’re keen to help you display them to tell others about good things you have growing.
