The Economics of Happiness is a movie and a website, with lots of good resources – all about ‘localism’ – to redress the stranger excesses of globalisations adverse social and environmental impacts, by taking economic and social action to support local and regional economies. Did you know many countries import and export almost equal amounts of the same foodstuffs – within the same season! huge and unnecessary food miles. The key message of the movie, and the supporting website is around ‘Going local’ as a powerful strategy to help repair our fractured world – our ecosystems, our societies and our selves. Far from the old institutions of power, people are starting to forge a very different future…”
